Why does GOAT sometimes not avoid obstacles?
Updated on 2026/01/28
GOAT primarily relies on its front-facing TOF sensor and AI vision for obstacle recognition:
(1) The TOF obstacle avoidance system currently supports three adjustable height settings in the app (≥10cm/≥15cm/≥20cm). TOF cannot detect obstacles below 10cm.
(2) TOF cannot detect obstacles on either side or behind GOAT.
(3) TOF has limited detection capability for black, white, and transparent objects.
(4) Uneven terrain may affect TOF obstacle avoidance accuracy.
(5) AI obstacle avoidance currently supports only a few types of obstacles (e.g., hedgehogs) and requires manual activation in the app.
(6) AI vision does not function effectively in low-light conditions or rainy weather.
